My Story

Welcome. Get to know me.
Yoga Therapist, C-IAYT, 500 hr RYT, 500 hr Viniyoga teacher, Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher
I have been a long time student of yoga. I am passionate about applying yoga through a therapeutic lens to restore balance and improve health and well-being. Drawing on the timeless traditions of yoga and Ayurveda, I intuitively help people create a personalized toolkit to ignite their potential for personal growth and transformation.
I had the wonderful opportunity to grow up in the Pacific Northwest where I established an early connection to nature, animals, and wildlife. I started dancing at an early age and eventually transitioned to competitive sports, always finding enjoyment and strength in movement.
Embracing an innate desire to ease suffering, I graduated college with a nursing degree and immediately started a decade-long career as a Trauma Critical Care Intensive Care Nurse. Daily long hours in a high stress, traumatic environment started taking its toll on me. I had aching in my back, chronic tension in my neck and shoulders and no clue how to handle my stress level and emotions. In 2005, I went to a yoga class, curious to see what it was about. What I discovered, was that yoga not only helped reduce my aches and pains but also shifted something deeper inside of me. I had experienced a way to help balance my nervous system. This was especially impactful in relation to my career and self-growth.

My yoga practice prompted me to complete my initial 200-hour yoga teacher training a few years later. While I taught yoga classes afterwards, the real knowledge came from my personal practice and continuing yoga education. My own experience of the healing capacity from this ancient tradition kept me determined to dig deeper, past the yoga postures and “flow” classes I enjoyed. Sensing a need for integrative and adjunctive wellness modalities to complement Western medicine treatment, I was inspired to explore my interest in eastern philosophies and healing traditions. I felt that through the practice of yoga, one could discover a holistic approach to wellness.

In 2013, I moved to Northern New Mexico, stepped away from nursing and embraced the joys and challenges of motherhood. During this time, I studied prenatal and postnatal yoga, deepening my studies with another 100 training hours to certify as a registered pre/postnatal yoga teacher as I lived through the experience myself. Soon after, we relocated to the Eastern Sierras to the town of Mammoth Lakes, CA. Within the next 2 years, hands full with a toddler, I founded a community yoga studio and had another baby. Life was chaos! My yoga practice kept me sane through this busy time and I kept chipping away at milestones in my yoga education, completing my first 500- hour yoga teacher training. But I still felt like I was only skimming the surface of the depths of yoga.
Something deep inside kept nudging me. Then in 2018, I met my teacher Gary Kraftsow. With Gary’s teaching through the lineage of viniyoga, I experienced a sense of “coming home”. His teachings offered me a unique breath centric tradition I had never experienced. Over the first 2 years, my body felt restored, and I learned how to balance my emotions. I had concrete knowledge and tools that were authentically rooted in the lineage of Krishnamacharya, the "grandfather of vinyasa". I also finally knew the why behind what I was doing in yoga.

Gary studied in India with Krishnamacharya and his son, Desikachar, a world-renowned yoga teacher and therapist. Over the last 4 decades, Gary (himself a lineage-initiated yoga therapist and teacher) has helped “bring yoga to the West” teaching others the experience of profound healing this tradition can offer individually and collectively. My personal experience with these teachings has informed and transformed me at all my levels of my being and is woven into the fabric of my life. I continued my studies with Gary and the American Viniyoga Institute to finish an additional 1,000 hours of specific yoga therapy education becoming a certified yoga therapist.

I am now living and thriving in Reno, Nevada. I teach general vinyasa classes at my favorite local studio, Temple Yoga Reno (check out my class schedule!) and work privately with persons interested in benefiting from yoga therapy.
I would be honored to support your personal growth and realization of potential.
